About Phillips Law Offices

This site is published by Phillips Law Offices, a Chicago personal injury firm that has represented injured people and their families in Illinois since 1945. The firm reports more than $500 million recovered for clients over that time. We act for people hurt in car accidents, semi-truck collisions, motorcycle wrecks, bicycle and pedestrian crashes throughout Chicago and Illinois, from an office in the Loop at 161 N Clark Street.

The firm has built its reputation in front of Cook County juries rather than in television commercials. Its lawyers are known on the Daley Center civil bench for thorough preparation, clean trial work and disciplined cross-examination. That courtroom credibility matters long before any trial: defense counsel and adjusters price a case differently when they know the firm is willing and able to try it.

Our Attorneys

Stephen D. Phillips

The firm’s lead trial attorney. Stephen D. Phillips has spent more than three decades representing seriously injured Illinois residents and the families of people killed in preventable crashes. He has tried catastrophic injury, medical malpractice and trucking cases to jury verdict across the state, and he personally directs the firm’s most complex files.

Stephen J. Phillips

Stephen J. Phillips brings sharp investigative skills and a strong client-communication style to every case he handles. He works closely with clients from the first call through resolution, coordinating medical documentation and economic-loss analysis.

Terrence M. Quinn

Terrence M. Quinn is a veteran Illinois trial lawyer who has handled significant injury and wrongful-death cases across the state. His preparation and cross-examination work have produced verdicts that move case values across the regional personal injury bar.

Michael J. Phillips

Michael J. Phillips contributes to the firm’s commercial-vehicle and trucking litigation practice. He focuses on the regulatory and motor-carrier issues that often decide the outcome of serious crashes involving a tractor-trailer or delivery truck.

Alec D. Mesrobian

Alec D. Mesrobian rounds out the trial team with a focus on case-development strategy and medical-evidence analysis. He works directly with clients on injury documentation and expert coordination.

How We Work

Car accident claims move fast, and insurance adjusters count on that speed working against injured drivers. We start preserving evidence — the police report, dashcam and surveillance footage, vehicle data — before the insurer’s first settlement offer lands, then push past that number until it reflects what the crash actually cost.

  • Free consultation. No attorney’s fee unless we recover for you. We explain how case costs are handled before you sign anything.
  • We handle the insurance fight. Adjusters are trained negotiators. So are we, and we do not work for the insurance company.
  • Every responsible party, pursued. Illinois law lets us go after a distracted driver, a trucking company and a municipality with a broken traffic signal in the same case.
  • Trial capability, not just settlement. When a fair settlement is not on the table, we try the case.

The Guides on This Site

This site holds more than 130 guides to Illinois car accident claims, written for people dealing with a crash rather than for other lawyers. Each one cites the Illinois statute it relies on so you can check it yourself. If you are not sure where to start:
